Food For Your Family


Which one of the following is caused by the chemical BPA found in plastic and aluminum cans containing food?

a. obesity in children
b. reproductive development
c. cardiovascular disease

To find the answer please read the following articles, Consuming Canned Soup and BPA In Food Packaging.

After comparing the two articles write a response in the comment box below that answers the following:
  1. What is the answer to the question at the beginning of this post.
  2. Where does BPA come from?
  3. Name something you ate or drank today that was packaged in plastic or a can.
  4. Does this research affect your own family?
  5. Do you plan on doing anything to protect your child from consuming BPA?

    1. Phill, could you look at the Canned Soup article again and see if you find a different answer to #1? You mention avoiding beverages in bottles and cans but I'm wondering how you feel about how food is stored? Could you tell me what you plan to drink instead?

    1. You mentioned drinking coffee in a BPA container - what kind was it? Just curious. I'm wondering how you feel about this chemical going into your baby's body, now and after it's born? Is there anything you can change to provide a healthier environment?

    2. BPA comes from plastic containers, metal food and beverage cans.
    3. I drank water from a plastic bottle.
    4. I think this research affects my family because we always eat veggies and other foods from cans.
    5. I'll try to get fresh foods, and other things that aren't put in cans or plastic containers.

    3. i ate a breakfast bar that was in plastic.
    4. i dont think it effects my family because it all can be reused and recycles.
    5. yes, i will be trying to limit to the amount of food and drinks they will have in plastic, or cans.

    4. Yes, because my family buys some foods that come in aluminum cans and plastic bottles.
    5. Limit the amount of foods or drinks that come in plastic bottles or cans.
