Child Support vs Visitation

Most single, young parents are aware of the terms "child support" and "visitation", however  there are many misconceptions about how these laws are carried out.

  • Do you know if teenagers have to pay child support?
  • Do you think you can go to jail if you don't let the father visit the baby?
  • What if the father doesn't pay child support...can he still get visitation right?

There is a great article by columnist, Bob Dyer with the Akron Beacon Journal, Fathers Who Pay Should Get To Visit Too. It is not only a humorous article but very serious when you consider the children that are most affected by these two laws.

  1. What did you think about the article?
  2. Do you think these laws are fair?
  3. What can you do to avoid conflict with your baby's other parent?
